Renowned Meru lawyer and aspiring North Imenti parliamentary candidate Wakili Kiogora Mugambi on Wednesday marked ten years of hosting Muslims and Christians for a joint Eid Al-Adha feast, using the occasion to preach peace, unity and religious tolerance ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The colourful celebration held at his Gitimbine home in Meru brought together hundreds of residents, religious leaders and guests from different faiths in a rare show of interfaith harmony during this year’s Eid Al-Adha celebrations.
Kiogora, alongside his family, slaughtered several cows and at least ten goats for the feast as Muslims joined the rest of the world in commemorating Eid Al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.

The Islamic celebration commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God before a ram was provided instead, symbolizing faith, sacrifice, devotion, charity and unity among believers.
Addressing residents during the gathering, Kiogora urged Kenyans to reject divisive politics and embrace peaceful coexistence regardless of political affiliation, religion or ethnicity.
“God created every human being with a purpose and people should entrench love, peace and unity,” said Kiogora.
“I am in DCP but I respect and value the opinion and choice of the other person whether in one term or two terms. We are all God’s creation. We suffer the same fate. We go through the same problems and challenges. No politician should incite you to hate your neighbour,” he added.
Kiogora, who has declared interest in the North Imenti MP seat, said leaders should focus on uniting communities instead of exploiting political differences for personal gain.
Residents who attended the ceremony praised the lawyer for supporting needy families through school fees assistance, pro-bono legal services and community support programmes.
David Kabaara called on politicians to stop inciting Kenyans against one another before, during and after the 2027 elections.
“What matters is your vote. Make the right choice that you won’t regret. I believe once Wakili starts his campaigns many will rally behind him. It is a matter of time,” he said.
Other residents, including Isaiah Mwiti and Abdala Juma, lauded the interfaith gathering, saying it reflected the spirit of Eid Al-Adha and peaceful coexistence.
“May Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices this Eid-Al-Adha and fill your home with joy and prosperity,” said Juma.
