In a powerful call for unity and patriotism, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Sunday urged Kenyans to ignore the opposition claiming they are forces only determined to destabilize the nation’s peace.
Speaking during a church service at AIC Nairagie Enkare in Narok East, Narok county today, the DP emphasized the importance of national unity and peaceful coexistence.
He urged citizens to place the country above politics, noting that patriotism is a crucial ingredient for Kenya’s progress.
“We must love Kenya because it is our country. This is where God put all of us. Let us be patriotic. You might not agree with the leaders, but please pray for them,” said Kindiki.
However the DP acknowledged that dissent and criticism are valid elements of democracy.
He encouraged Kenyans to express their views without resorting to hatred or tribal division.
“It is not mandatory to agree with the government’s policies. Criticism is welcome because it helps improve leadership,” he added.
He took issue with politicians opposing the government saying they are individual who do not love their country and out to bring the nation down instead of supporting the government.

“We are also calling upon Kenyans to be careful with the opposition because they are only praying for the government to fail. They forget that a government’s downfall would also mean the failure of the entire nation. Instead pray for your leaders to succeed, because if they succeed, the country succeeds. If they fail, the country fails. It is the foolish who pray for failure,” Kindiki stated.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to its development agenda, Kindiki assured the public that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on delivering its promises.
He noted that the government is committed in implementing key interventions across all sectors in order to foster economic growth and uplift citizens’ lives.
“Kenya will not fail. Without fear of contradiction, we have learned painful lessons from the past. We have seen what negative ethnicity can do to a country. We will not go back,”said Kindiki
The second in command dismissed what he called “prophets of doom” predicting national collapse, asserting that the future of Kenya lies in unity, not division.
“Kenya is a land of growth and success, not failure,” he said.
Addressing the congregation and local leaders, the DP further called for collective responsibility in nation building and encouraged Kenyans to pray, unite and support the government.
“The government appreciates all shades of opinion. We are a listening administration. We don’t mind criticism; it’s part of our job description. We are ready to listen in order to be better,” noted Kindiki.
He also condemned a section of leaders and groups who spread tribal hatred or seek to undermine peace through divisive rhetoric and tribalism.
