PNU Party leader Peter Munya

PNU party leader Peter Munya has vowed to lead an onslaught against members of parliament for supporting bad laws and policies spearheaded by President William Ruto.

Speaking when he opened a party branch office at Muthara market on Friday, Mr Munya said the government has continued to oppress the common mwananchi despite promising to alleviate the suffering of the lowly.

He hit out at the government over its implementation of higher education funding, health insurance, Adani deals and delays in production of identity cards among others.

Munya said the MPs have endorsed oppressive motions including the finance bill 2024, impeachment of deputy president Rigathi Gachagua among others without questioning.

Residents of Tigania East acknowledge greetings from PNU Party leader Peter Munya.

“It is sad that they hoodwinked the people using the Bible and a smooth tongue. They made many promises but now Kenyans are suffering. We must kick them out in 2027 because Kenyans cannot afford health care and university education,” Munya said.

The PNU leader accused MPs of putting selfish interests on top of public interest leading to the suffering of the masses.

He lashed out at legislators for proposing an amendment to the constitution to extend the term of elected leaders to seven years.

“They know that their fate is sealed in 2027 and this is why they want to add two more years through a change of the constitution. We cannot allow the constitution to be amended without a referendum,” he added.

Munya rallied residents to support his party saying this is part of the region’s agenda to have their own political vehicle during elections.

“Gachagua is suffering now because he joined UDA which is not his party. If you sleep in someone’s house, they can kick you out in the middle of the night. There will be no notice since you are a mere guest,” Munya said.

On local politics, Munya maintained that he will not be swayed from abandoning his race for governorship.

Governor Mwangaza warned

He gave Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza a one week ultimatum to do away with a restaurant being put up at Muthara level four hospital, terming it a public health hazard.

“The hospital board has leased out a building within the hospital for a restaurant. This is against the public health act. The governor should stop this project because the facility will also be used as a conduit to steal hospital equipment,” Munya said.

He hit out at his rival Mithika Linturi saying he was not qualified to run the county government after he was relieved of his role as Cabinet Secretary.

Linturi has previously blamed the political troubles in Meru on Munya, who had endorsed Mwangaza in 2022.
