North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood has said the problems Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently facing are self inflicted.
He said the DP started the impeachment motion debate himself and he should not blame anybody for the problems he is currently facing.
Rahim said the President has not said anything about the impeachment motion which DP Gachagua alleges will be tabled in parliament against him.
The MP likened the predicament the DP finds himself to the analogy of the hyena which keeps shouting that it is under attack but when the real attack comes nobody responds to its distress call because everybody is tired of the repeated joke.
The MP said it is a matter of time before the impeachment motion is tabled in parliament.
“It’s a forgone conclusion because the DP has asked for it by always talking about impeachment even before anybody thought about it. The problems he is currently facing are self inflicted because he started the debate.
Once impeached the DP will not be in the ballot in the future. The president will not be affected by it. I won’t reveal whether I have signed for the impeachment motion or not. We are waiting for it. It’s a matter of time,” said Rahim.
He faulted the DP and his team for going around the country abusing the President without any provocation.
He said abusing the President is showing disrespect to the presidency and the entire country.
“We were shocked to see DP Gachagua do a parallel public address to the nation during the Genz demonstrations moments after the President did the same at State House. We almost lost our lives when the demonstrators invaded the parliament buildings. His comments in Mombasa portrays him as someone who was behind the demonstrations,” said Rahim.
Rahim said it is a matter of time before the impeachment motion is tabled in parliament.
Rahim said all the country needs now is peace and development and not unnecessary politicking.
He said the impeachment debate should come to an end to enable the country move forward with other development issues.
He said the President will not lose the support of mount Kenya region because he had it even before he started working with DP Gachagua noting the region does not belong to anybody.
He said he fully supports Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to be the mount Kenya spokesman.
Rahim said nobody knows what the President and his deputy had agreed on before they started working together.
