Meru County is set to host the 10th edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (Kicosca) Games that will kick off on Sunday 20, August 2023.
The six day event will be held at various venues in Meru among them Kinoru Stadium, Meru Teachers Training College, Kenya Methodist University, Meru University of Science and Technology, Meru National polytechnic and Meru School.
In a recent event at Kinoru stadium that will be the major venue, KICOSCA chairman John Angawa while handing over a ceremonial chain from Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyongo to Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza, said about 10, 000 participants from 40 counties will attend.
In a spot check on the hospitality industry within Meru town, bookings in some major hotels had already started prior to the check-ins.
Stanley Kimathi a manager in one of the hotels said that half the number of their rooms had been booked, being optimistic that there will be a lucrative business.
“We started receiving bookings since Tuesday this week and almost half of our rooms have been fully booked. We anticipate that it will be a season of good harvest like it was when we hosted the devolution conference” said Kimathi.
