Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is on the receiving end as residents and opinion leaders in Mt Kenya continue to express support for Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to be the regional Kingpin.

Led by Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s adviser Gideon Kimathi, Edwin Kiongozi and Halima Regina among others, they praised a move by Mt Kenya East MPs to endorse Prof Kindiki as the region’s spokesman.

They said Kindiki’s role as Kingpin should also be endorsed by other Mt Kenya West leaders because he has been loyal to the President unlike Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is waging war against his boss.

“I am happy Mt Kenya East leaders have seen the light. We laud and support them for endorsing Kindiki. All surveys done in this Country have ranked Kindiki on top of others in terms of performance. He has never involved himself in politics but service delivery,” Kimathi said.

Kiongozi said Gachagua had started early 2027 campaigns affecting service delivery and sabotaging his boss.

“We have several stalled development projects especially water, roads and others that DP Gachagua should be pushing for their completion. We appeal to President Ruto to pick CS Kindiki as his deputy in 2027,” Kiongozi said.

Regina said Kindiki was the ideal running mate for president Ruto in 2022 but he was shortchanged at the eleventh hour.

She urged President Ruto to pick Kindiki in 2027 as he is currently ripe for any post including presidency.

On Monday, Elected leaders from the Mt Kenya East region drawn from Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru counties said they have unanimously endorsed Kindiki as the link between them and the executive.

“As the legislators of Mt. Kenya East, and on behalf of our people, we have unanimously agreed that the link between us and the executive is Prof. Kithure Kindiki,” they said in a statement read by Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.

The leaders made the decision in a parliamentary group meeting held at a hotel in Embu.
