The Meru Members of the County Assembly have been advised to unite and work with governor Kawira Mwangaza failure to which they risk facing the dissolution of the county.

Meru County Chairperson of People Living with Disability Mike Mutembei alias “Makarina” said the MCAs have no alternative but to allow the governor to work failure to which the county will be dissolved to allow them seek fresh mandate from the voters.

He regretted that the MCAs have continuously interfered with the running of the county affairs by regularly tabling impeachment motions against the governor.

The renowned opinion leader called on all the elected leaders to perform the duties they were elected to do instead of always politicking.

“The MCA should unite and work with the governor failure to which the county should be dissolved. They have so far tabled unsuccessfully five impeachment motions against her. This should stop immediately in order to give the governor humble time to implement her manifesto. Let the elected leaders including the senator, MPs and MCAs perform the duties they were elected to do instead of always politicking,” said Makarina.

He however said if the county is dissolved governor Mwangaza will be reelected with a landslide since she has a strong following at the grassroot level while majority of MCAs will go home.

Speaking at a local hotel in Meru town, Makarina said the MCAs are only out to malign and mudsling her name for their own selfish political and financial gains.

He urged the MCAs to give the governor humble time to deliver her mandate noting some members of county assembly are being coerced to impeach the governor with no tangible evidence.

“They are given money and promised seats to impeach the Meru County governor for no apparent reason. They are doing the same thing over and again by bringing back the same impeachment motion. They are only mudslinging her for their selfish gains,” said Makarina.

He said they are only remaining with three years to the next elections and they should let governor Mwangaza finish her term.

“Even if she opts to initiate her Okolea Program it is her choice. The voters are the ones who will judge her in the next polls,” he said.

Makarina called for respect for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following claims of his impending impeachment.

“In Mount Kenya we have two strong leaders who should always be respected including Gachagua and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki,” said Makarina.

He cautioned other tribes against meddling with Meru politics and advised them to leave the community to chart it own political destiny.

Makarina has always been a fierce critic of the governor and her Okolea programs but has now turned an ally.
