Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital is set for a major upgrade following a visit by a team of construction experts from the Ministry of Defence.
Hosted by Chief Officer of Health Dr. Joseph Wahome, the team assessed key areas in need of improvement, including operating theatres, power systems, wards, and the sewer line.
This comes after Meru Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia requested national support from President William Ruto to elevate the hospital to a Level 6 facility.
Dr. Wahome praised the dedication of hospital staff and expressed hope that the upgrade would make advanced services like cancer care a reality.
The move is expected to boost healthcare access across the entire Upper Eastern region.
