The New Meru deputy governor Linda Kiome has vowed to push the interests of the youth and women after taking oath of office on Friday.
Justice Stephen Githinji adminsted the oath on Friday, the ceremony had officially been gazetted.
Linda becomes the fourth Meru deputy governor and the first woman deputy governor in Meru county.
The event was attended by many leaders including Meru governor Mutuma M’eithingia, MPs Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri),Moses Kirima Central Imenti).
Linda thanked governor Mutuma for appointment.
“We are deeply moved by your commitment to supporting women leadership,” she said.
She added the county has endured turbulence leadership chapter that caused division and affected vision.
“Leadership is about trust, humility,integrity and unwavering commitment towards people’s welfare and so I promise to have all that,” Kiome said.
She said her leadership will be guided by the Bible and the constitution of Kenya.
Ms Kiome promised to use her office to uphold human rights and dignity of the people of Meru.
The deputy governor assured Mutuma that she will be loyal and hardworking.
She added they will reject politics of divisions and intolerance and instead embrace collegiality and respect for the rule of law as the foundation of their governance
The Deputy Governor said she will prioritize youth and women as she seems to have gender mainstream in in every development project.
“Youth and women will not only be beneficiaries of development but will work hand in hand with them to ensure they are part of our leadership,” Ms Kiome added.
She promised to elevate the voice of the county boss and ensure that no residents will be left behind.
The promised not to give the governor because of her leadership.
Governor M’Ethingia promised that he would not torment her deputy or disrespect her office like it happened to him under Kawira Mwangaza.
