A Meru county employee has reportedly gone missing days after reporting a threat to his life.
According to a notice posted on social media, Kimathi was last seen on Friday last week.
“He was last seen at Mwembeni area in Makutano, Meru towN, wearing a black trouser, black T-shirt and arafat scarf on his head. If you see him kindly call 0717173837/0795464742.” The notice stated.
He is said to have left his phone in a friend’s car never to return. The phone is currently at Kambakia police station after it was left their by the friend.
A week ago, Kimathi had reported that a man masquerading as a police officer had threatened to shoot him in unclear circumstances.
“I recorded a statement and the suspect has also been released on bail after recording his statement. The suspect threatened me when we met at Makutano while dressed in police uniform,” He said.
Kimathi added, “He also threatened me through the phone. I later discovered that he is not a police officer but works at Kaaga Boys High school,.”
Despite Kimathi reporting the threat at Meru Police Station under OB number 27/31/7/2024, the suspect is yet to be arraigned in court.
Kimathi had told Voice Daily that the suspect who is said to be a staff at Kaaga Boys High school was allegedly donning police jungle uniform while threatening the complainant.
“We were with a friend who also saw him dressed in police uniform. I am sure that CCTV footage at Personality area in Makutano can show this,” Kimathi said.
However, Kimathi laments that almost one month after reporting the threats, the police were not showing signs of acting.
While the police are yet to recover the alleged military uniform, the suspect’s social media profiles have photos of him wearing the uniform.
According to the police, a search done on the suspect did not recover any uniform.
“Why are the police officers forcing me to drop the charges instead of arraigning the suspect in court? The police should establish how the civillian acquired the police uniform and used it to harass members of public,” he said.
However, police sources say the matter is linked to a love triangle.
