Divisions continue to widen in Devolution Empowerment Party popularly known as “Mbus” after a section of officials vowed to move to court to challenge party leader Kiraitu Murungi’s position .
Led by the outfit’s National secretary general Mugambi Imanyara, the delegates claimed it was illegal for the former Meru county governor to continue holding a political office while serving as NOCK chairman.
Imanyara further accused Kiraitu of installing himself as the party National Chairman without due process as per the party constitution.
He added, “Next week we will move to court to ensure that Kiraitu resigns as a public servant and repay all the money he has been receiving as a public servant.
His sentiments were also echoed by former MCA Karinga Mwirigi who said Kiraitu should resign from government if he must lead the party.
Karinga said as a party ,they don’t recognize Kiraitu as leader of the “Mbus” party claiming he recently went public and announced his retirement from active politics.
He said for one to become a national party official, he or she has to be elected by the party delegates.
