Isiolo governor Abdi Guyo has warned the county staff against poor service delivery saying he would not hesitate to fire errant workers.
The governor cited a trend where errant workers rush to elders for help when suspended from work, saying that not even elders will save lazy workers under his watch.
Speaking while distributing a personal donation of 100 motorbikes, more than 100 barber and salon kits, two vehicles and several tuk-tuks to vulnerable youth and women groups in Isiolo town, the governor said he needed an efficient public service to deliver his promise to the electorate.
“We must change our work culture in Isiolo County through empowering our people to create jobs and work. The trend where the government resources benefited a few individuals will come to an end. I will ensure the most needy and deserving benefit from government contracts and resources,” Guyo said.
He called on residents to report cases of county workers’ sleeping on the job.
“If any case of workers failing on their duty is reported, I will not hesitate to take action. I will not listen to elders who try to defend fired workers. I will not spare you even if you are a relative,” he said.
Governor Guyo said the items donated to the youth and would help empower those hit hard by the recent drought.
