Meru Governor Rev Mutuma M’Ethingia has reaffirmed his commitment to foster a safe, fair, and empowering environment for all county employees, vowing to eliminate intimidation and political interference in the county workforce.

Speaking at the inaugural Staff County Forum held at Kinoru Stadium, the governor addressed hundreds of county employees gathered for the first-ever event of its kind in Meru.

The forum was designed to open direct dialogue between the county leadership and staff, and to set a new foundation of trust, professionalism, and collaboration.

“No public servant should report to work in fear,” the governor declared.

“This administration is committed to building a culture of mutual respect, transparency, and accountability. Our staff are the engine of service delivery — and they must be treated with dignity.”

He outlined several key measures aimed at enhancing staff welfare and morale, including the review of human resource policies, the creation of a county staff welfare oversight committee, and increased investment in professional development.

The governor also announced the introduction of insurance certificates for all county staff, as well as annual rewards and recognition to those that demonstrate execeptional performance and commitment.

Governor Mutuma assured employees that all pending promotions will be completed before the end of 2025, noting that 158 promotions have already been effected so far.

The governor also delivered a candid reflection on the past, revealing that some employees had been pushed into depression by the previous regime due to intimidation and unfair treatment.

“That is a dark chapter we will never revisit. My administration stands for dignity, fairness, and respect for all workers.” The governor remarked.

“It gives us confidence that change is not only possible — it’s already starting,”an employee said.

In his closing remarks, the governor emphasized his willingness to work with everyone, regardless of background or position, and welcomed all stakeholders on board to join hands in building a better Meru.

He promised to work hand in hand with every employee, saying that unity, open communication, and collective effort would be the cornerstone of his administration’s success.
