Meru governor Isaac Mutuma has launched several projects in Akithi and Kianjai ward in a bid to bring services closer to mwananchi.
Governor Mutuma move to leads major development push in the wards is a powerful demonstration of service-oriented leadership.
He led a series of landmark development initiatives across Akithi and Kianjai wards, signaling a new era of progress in healthcare, infrastructure, water access, and economic empowerment for Meru county residents.
The Governor, accompanied by Members of the County Assembly of Meru, began the tour at Kitheo dispensary in Akithi ward, where he delivered essential laboratory equipment to boost the facility’s diagnostic capabilities.
Established in 1999, the dispensary remains a critical health service point for the community.
“As we deliver this equipment today, we also unveil a broader vision to construct a fully equipped maternity wing for improved care to our mothers and children. No mother should have to travel far for safe delivery. We are committed to building a health system that is accessible, reliable, and people-centered,” said governor Mutuma.
The Governor also emphasized his administration’s focus on protecting local land and heritage through comprehensive policies.

He announced ongoing discussions with a credible buyer to improve market access for macadamia farmers aimed at uplifting incomes and enhancing agricultural sustainability in the region.
Shifting focus to Kianjai ward, governor Mutuma visited Miathene Level IV hospital to inspect the construction of a new ward block.
While progress is underway, he acknowledged key challenges still facing the facility including the absence of an X-ray machine, an industrial autoclave, shortage of mortuary coolers, and a power backup system.
Staffing shortages have also hindered service delivery.
“I am here to ensure that what was not achieved before will now be delivered. These needs are no longer negotiable and they will be acted upon as soon as possible. To our healthcare workers, we see your commitment, and we will continue to prioritize your welfare,” noted Mutuma.
In Ngundune, the Governor commissioned the opening and grading of a critical rural road linking Kwa Kauna – Kamutune – Kathiine – Twarama – Kwa Mitheu – Kwa Mario – Kwa Kubaniu – Twale Primary – Thinyaine Dispensary.
The project is expected to ease transport, improve trade, and enhance access to education and health facilities.
Equally impactful was the launch of a 2.3-kilometer water distribution system at the Ngundune VTC borehole, which will deliver clean water to more than 1,000 households, significantly improving public health and daily life for local families.
Governor Mutuma also presided over the site handover of the Ngundune Livestock Market to SIVAP, marking a significant milestone in agricultural infrastructure development in Akithi Ward.
“These projects reflect our deep commitment to improving the quality of life across every village, home, and institution in this county. From roads to water, from hospitals to markets, we are building a stronger Meru,” he said.
He concluded by praising the ongoing unity and collaboration among county leaders:
“The steady progress we are making is thanks to the steadfast leadership and dedication of our Members of the County Assembly. Together, we are turning vision into reality,” he noted.
Governor Mutuma’s tour stands as a bold affirmation of a government that listens, responds, and delivers while working tirelessly to bring tangible development to the doorsteps of its people.
