Meru Politicians allied to former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi have urged President William Ruto to re-appoint him else they would rethink their support in 2027.
They said Linturi was a key factor in making sure Meru people vote overwhelmingly to Kenya Kwanza coalition’s allied politicians including President Ruto.
Mithika Mzalendo who vied for Igembe South seat in 2022 , Felicity Biriri who came second in the Woman Rep seat, a host of current and former MCAs said if loyalty is to be rewarded, then President Ruto should consider giving a position to Linturi.
“Linturi was bundled out of the Cabinet in an unceremonious manner. We know he did not do anything wrong. He was very competent. We request the President to consider him again because once one path is closed, we must find another route. Meru people should not give up on him,” Biriri said.
Biriri expressed confidence that this time round she will clinch the Woman Rep seat.
“We demand good leadership in this County. Durinf the last elections, I was number two and often number two becomes number one. I am confident I will take over to be your woman representative,” Biriri said at Auki in Igembe South.
Biriri appealed to parents to enroll their children in Technical Institutions to acquire skills that can transform their future lives.

Mzalendo said they fought night and day, strategizing and seeking votes for the President because they had a promise that Linturi would be part of Ruto’s government as a CS.
Former MCA Nturibi Etirikia said Linturi’s job was cut off by the nine Meru MPs due to jealousy.
“Can you imagine innocent Linturi’s job as CS Agriculture was sacrificed by our MPs? When they were asked if Linturi should be reappointed after the Cabinet was dissolved, they all said no.”
“He can’t use and dump people. We sought Ruto’s votes night and day, we want the promise fulfilled,” Etirikia said.
