Veteran footballer and former Harambee Stars player Musa Otieno is now the new Technical director for Tulivu football club.
The club which is based in Meru county and is the Meru county FKF league champion, has signed Musa Otieno as the club technical director and Denise Gikunda, a former Al-alzizia FC captain, as the new team manager.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Meru town, Tulivu foundation director Francis Mworia said the signing of the new team officials is to ensure that the football team grows and rises to the top level of Kenya football which is the Kenya premier league.
Mworia said there is potential in football talent especially in Meru county and called on other commercial companies to follow suit and sponsor upcoming football clubs in the county.
“We are also establishing a football academy in Meru county as a way of complementing the national government initiative of establishing sports academies. Musa Otieno will be very instrumental in the academy,” he said.
Otieno promised to deliver a wealth of experience to the team.
He said he is aiming to scout young football talents for both primary and secondary schools.
“I urge parents to be supportive of their children talents rather than just focusing on education only. Talent also pays,” Otieno said.
Gikunda, the new Tulivu FC team manager promised to up the skills of the football standards of the club by working together with all the club officials and the players.
FKF newly elected vice-chairman Meru county branch Elias Murega noted that as FKF they will fully support the club and also other football clubs in Meru.
He said they will ensure that football standards in Meru are improved and that more football talents from the county are recognized not only nationally but also internationally.
