Meru deputy governor Mutuma M’Ethingia and Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu have defended water CS Eric Muga urging him to be cowed establishing water projects to end drought in Meru.
Mutuma urged Muga to establish water projects and connect residents with sufficient water to curb drought and famine Igembe people encounter every now and then.
“Engineer, you are the medicine to water deficiency challenges in Meru. Take action and end hunger in this region,” he said.
Taitumu said leaders should stop undermining the leadership of Engineer Muga because he has the potential to deliver.
“Don’t be swayed by politicians who are fighting you. You are the Cabinet secretary with all the powers having a water engineer. Meru people, clergy and everyone else is shielding you. You are protected,” Taitumu said.
Cabinet Secretary Eric Muga reiterated that there is a big problem of lack of water especially Igembe North where no single crosses the constituency.
He said his energy is dedicated in implementing President William Ruto’s development projects.
They spoke as they celebrated the 5th Anniversary of MCK Igembe Synod hosted by Synod Bishop Rev. Gerald Kithure and graced by Bishop Kinoti Anampiu (Nyambene Synod), Bishop Douglas Gitonga Mpara (Tharaka Synod), and a host of other bishops, clergy, and faithful from Igembe and the entire Nyambene region.
Congegants hailed Kithure saying when he took over there has been great improvement and developments including opening new churches.
“He has mentored and nourished us in a level that we have never experienced before. We are proud of him. He is a fighter against FGM and early pregnancies” said Agnes Kawiria.
Kithure lamented over inadequate rainfall rendering people without food.
He also castigated against frequent cattle rustling incidences.
