The Former Meru governor Peter Munya over the weekend intensified his 2027 gubernatorial race campaigns calling on residents to elect visionary and development oriented leaders .
Calling on the locals to rally behind him come next general elections, Munya assured the region of being fully committed and ready to revive the grounded and initiate new developments in the area if he is re-elected .
He noted the Meru community should be keen to vote leaders who have the willingness and capacity to implement projects and programmes that will transform their lives.
The former Agriculture cabinet secretary further emphasized on the need for electorate to avoid wasting time on individuals whose only campaign platform is division and empty rhetoric.
Speaking in Mikinduri( Tigania East),Laare ( Igembe North ) and Maua (Igembe south ) respectively during his two days vote-hunting tour , Munya faulted governor Kawira Mwangaza accusing her of underdevelopment and fueling disunity in the region .
“ I am personally a very disappointed person because I voted and supported her but she has failed to bring transformative and tangible developments and projects which can benefit the locals this a clear education that she was tasked with duties behold her ability ,” said Munya .
While opening several Party of National Unity (PNU) offices ,he also accused the embattled governor of failing to unite and work with other leaders a move he said has denied the region a chance to receive more goodies form the national government.
“ When there is no unity among elected leaders starting with the governor, a region remain disadvantaged because there is no team work lobbying and this is the case in Meru region many developments have stagnated due to lack of unity ,” added Munya .
He pleaded with Meru residents to elect him come 2027 to help him redeem the lost glory of the area.
Munya added since Meru governor Kawira was elected Meru county has been lagging behind due to dramas and rhetorical politics between her and the county assembly .
He added the rift that has continued to escalate between the two factions of power has totally derailed implementation of developments and projects in various sectors .
“All the development projects I had initiated as your first governor like Meru microfinance to empower the banking sector actors, Ambulances in many hospitals, provision of drugs in hospitals, drilling of boreholes among others stopped it regrettable but I am ready to redeem back ,” Munya said.
Munya said he was not afraid of his competitors who will contest in the same race noting his developments track records will enable him clinch the seat in the next general elections .
“My thoughts and concentration are in Governorship. We are strategizing, I have no fear I will triumph and clinch back the seat because I didn’t lose it but I was rigged. The person who rigged me was shamed after being dethroned,” Munya said.
He urged leaders in his camp especially PNU candidates to conduct peaceful campaigns.
Munya said he had conducted a Private survey that has revealed he is ahead of his competitors.
Munya advises incompetent leaders to stop hoodwinking electorates or otherwise they vie for the political seats that match their capability.
