Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to reject tribal  and divisive politics in favor of developments driven leadership.

Speaking during an empowerment drive in Masinga constituency, Machakos county today,  Kindiki told citizens that the era of  hollow promises and tribal incitement is long gone.

“Kenyans are more enlightened than before. You cannot feed them useless slogans in the hope they will support you. This time, they will demand to be shown what you did for them when you were in power,” said Kindiki.

Addressing  hundreds of residents from the region, the DP accused a section of leaders whom he said are busy selling incitive tribal politics ahead of 2027 general elections

In a fiery rebuke aimed at his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua , Kindiki dismissed threats and political noise over the Ruto administration’s potential for a second term, branding them as inconsequential.

“Don’t threaten us with the number of terms limit. Terms don’t matter much to us. What matters most is what we do for Kenyans in the time we are in office,” he said.

The Deputy President at the same time  defended the ongoing national empowerment programs, dismissing critics who claim the initiatives are politically motivated.

He emphasized that projects like these are vital lifelines to millions of ordinary Kenyans and especially mama mboga, boda boda riders, and small traders who form the backbone of Kenya’s informal economy.

Among the flagship programs he cited were the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) and the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) initiatives.

He said the programs are  government-driven projects aimed at generating  sustainable employment opportunities while equipping the youth with necessary skills and access to capital.

“Ignore these noise makers. Those are people  who think they have enough and are now trying to soil our empowerment efforts. So if you are opposed to these efforts, kindly allow us to  do it because it is our conviction to support those in need and not you ,’ said Kindiki.

He reiterated that no region in Kenya will be sidelined from national development programs based on political affiliations or past voting patterns.

Accompanied by several law makers from the region the DP noted that the government will serve everyone irrespective of how they voted adding that all the  regions will benefit from roads, electricity, water, and markets developments projects .

In Machakos County, he highlighted a series of development projects currently underway including the completion of stalled road networks, expansion of the electricity grid  with an allocation of KSh 1.4 billion and the construction of 15 new modern markets designed to stimulate local trade and improve livelihoods.

The Deputy President also gave  updates on the progress of the Taifa Care program, particularly the Social Health Authority (SHA), amid calling on residents to support and register in the health program.

Kindiki noted that despite initial teething issues, the program is now functioning smoothly, with over 23 million Kenyans already registered.

“SHA is one of the most transformative health programs to ever be done in this country. It is working. We will continue to improve it so that every Kenyan, regardless of income, has access to quality healthcare,” he noted.
