Imenti North politician Erick Mutwiri has said the recent impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reveals a bad picture of President William Ruto’s regime.

Mutwiri, said the silence of the President William Ruto in such a matter was unfortunate.

“It is very worrying that the president who had promised Kenyans that his deputy will not be persecuted has had his principal assistant impeached,” Mutwiri said.

Mutwiri who unsuccessfully vied for North Imenti parliamentary seat said President William Ruto should have called his deputy and addressed their differences.

“If President Ruto saw the accusations made against Gachagua such like being a tribal leader affects national cohesion, he should have engaged him because conflicts are everywhere even in families,” Mutwiri said.

He said Ruto chose DP Gachagua despite many leaders rooting for Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to be his running mate.

“The impeachment of Gachagua shows that President Ruto has failed to put his house in order,” he said.

Mutwiri who is an economist by profession also bashed the parliament for what he termed as being arm twisted by the executive.

“There is a problem. People have nobody to speak to b3cause we saw what happened in the finance bill that led to the demonstrations by the Gen Z,” he said.

Mutwiri said impeachment should be used to enforce accountability and not witchhunt.

“Impeachment is the only solution we have when leaders become rogue, they should be supported so long as they are not witch hunting,” Mutwiri said.

Advice to Kindiki

Mutwiri warned Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to stay away from the fight between the two or he might spoil his good name.

“Kindiki should concentrate on fighting banditry and addressing other development issues. He should not be roped into politics by being named Mount Kenya Kingpin,” Mutwiri said.

Mutwiri said Kindiki should be wary of MPS who are praising him because they are after development programmes.

“I think Kingpin is not a priority for now let Kindiki work hard and demonstrate he can deliver. When that time comes, we will reward him if he delivers tangible development projects,” Mutwiri said.
