Cabinet Secretary for Security, Kipchumba Murkomen, has firmly rejected rumors of a conspiracy aimed at forcing Chief Justice Martha Koome out of office. Speaking during the commissioning of a new administrative unit at Abogeta Sub-County in Imenti South, Meru, Murkomen called the allegations “unfounded” and reiterated that no such plot exists.
The event, which was hosted by Imenti South MP Dr. Shadrack Mwiti, saw Murkomen emphasize the government’s commitment to improving service delivery through the establishment of new administrative units. The newly created Sub-County, according to Murkomen, is part of the government’s strategy to bring services closer to the people of Meru.
In his statement, Murkomen also addressed the growing concern over divisive political rhetoric, particularly criticizing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Murkomen stressed that the nation needs unity, urging politicians to focus on fostering cohesion rather than sowing division. “Divisive politics have no place in our national development,” he remarked.
On regional management allocations, the Interior CS explained that the distribution of administrative units would be based on factors such as population size and the geographical spread of regions. However, he clarified that there is no formal plan yet for selecting leadership areas. Murkomen called for MPs to pass legislation that would allow for the effective division of regions to ensure national progress.

Meanwhile, Kiraitu Murungi, the former Governor of Meru, expressed strong support for Chief Justice Koome. He also urged the elders of Njuri Ncheke to publicly condemn any attempts to undermine her position. Murungi emphasized the need to protect the independence of the judiciary and uphold the rule of law.
The statements from both Murkomen and Murungi reflect a unified stance in defending the integrity of the judiciary and promoting unity in the face of political discord.
