Interior cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Sunday called on religious leaders to cooperate with the government in the ongoing review of church regulations to help wees out rogue clergy and criminals.
Speaking at House of Testimonies Victory revival church at Nturiri in Maara,Tharaka Nithi constituency today , CS noted that many criminals are hiding in the church where they exploit and terrorize innocent Kenyans .
He accused some religious leaders of failing to volunteer information to the government despite them having a clue of the rogue clergy conning Kenya’s using the scriptures .
“ We will not be stopped by anybody from regulating the churches. All what we want is the churches to cooperate and volunteer information and even if they don’t, we will still go for the criminals hiding there” said Prof Kindiki.
While addressing faithful in Maara,The CS said its unfortunate that criminals are hiding under religion to exploit and con the poor to get rich.
“ We have so many conmen and terrorist in the church who preach wrong gospel , brainwash and radicalize innocent faithful to steal money form them and use it to commit adultery and other vices ,” added the CS
He at the same time warned that they are investigating some denominations which mislead their followers against taking sick people to the hospital .
“ We have information that some churches don’t allow their members to take their sick people to the hospital instead they ask them to pray for them I wonder which scripture says so , so we are warning you that we are coming for you arrest and punish you harshly because no Kenyan will die again for being mislead in the name od religion ” said the CS.
He regret that some religious leaders knew about the Shakahola killing and declined to give information to the relevant security agencies.
We are also taking the churches into task for hiding criminals and warning them that we will not sympathize with anybody on this war.
“ We are not fighting the church we will fully support churches which preach the right gospel and offer to help the community and not to exploit and hurt them ,” he added.
“ Some priest have become wild beast they not only con their sheep ,but also exploit their followers sexually and we are telling you your time is over we are coming for you, “he added.
The former Tharaka Nithi Senator further said after once they are done with exhumation at Shakahola the government will announce an national prayer day where inter- denomination churches will involved for prayers to cleanse the area.
He claimed witchcraft and demonic activities were involved at Paul Mackenzie New international church noting the cleansing of the area where more than 235 bodies were exhumed will be a national prayer activity .
“ When we are done with exhuming the bodies because we are returning next week for a third phase I will request the president to give us a national prayer day to be held at Shakahola to cleanse the area and send away the demons and witchcraft which was being practiced there in the name of the bible ,” he added.
Speaking ,he however said that Mackenzie will serve a life time sentence for being involved in the death of the innocent Kenyans .
“ Mackenzie and his troops will rot and die in the prison so that they can be an example to others ,’ he said .
While accompanied by locals leaders he further announced that all government officers who slept on their job as the innocent Kenyans died and others killed will be dismissed form work and face the full force of the law.
“ It unfortunate we had police officers and National Intelligent officers in the area and other public officers who did not take any action or give information on what was happening there I am telling them if there is anybody who slept on his job or took bribe when blood was being shed, must go home and later arrest to answer a case in court of law,” Said Kindiki .
