The Council of Governors has promised to support Meru county government with more resources once the new administration is constituted.

The Council of Governors  Chief Executive Officer Ms Mary Mwiti  said she will ensure that more resources are brought to the county in order to enable the devolved unit to carry out it mandate more effectively.

Speaking at Three Steers hotel in Meru town during a three day workshop meant to access challenges in Meru county before coming up with solutions the CEO said they will ensure equity when distributing resources to the counties.

Ms Mwiti said the secretariat will train the county’s executive arm of the government once the new governor completes his appointments.

Meru governor Isaac Mutuma applauded the council for it zeal and hard work in ensuring the council’s statutory mandate of  coordinating and meeting the local needs of the counties are fulfilled.

Mutuma urged the CoG to have honest conversations and give solutions especially on the issue of withdrawal of the Universal Health Care fund.

“I urge the council to help in resource mobilization by bringing on board development partners to  help in coming up with the cancer research institute in Meru

The cancer menace has become very prevalent in Meru”,Mutuma said.

He said Meru has many breathtaking tourist sceneries that the County would tap a lot of revenue from if they are developed and promoted.

Ms Mwiti promised to table all the requests, findings and recommendations of the conference to the council’s committee and assured a swift feedback to the same
